The Federal high court of Abuja, Nigeria has fined actress Halima Abubakar over defaming Apostle Johnson Suleman.

The court fines Halima Abubakar N10 million for damages towards the clergyman.

You would recall that the actress accused Johnson Suleman of failing to keep to his promise of getting married to her in 2022.

However, the hearing of the case marked FCT/HC/CV/3413/2022 began on 25 March 2023.

The judgement delivered by Justice Enobie Obanor, in case no: FCT/HC/ CV/ 3413/2022, noted that the statements published by Halima Abubakar against Apostle Suleman were false and malicious.

The court ruled in favour of Apostle Suleiman, deeming Abubakar’s statements defamatory. The judgment ordered Abubakar to pay N10 million as aggravated and exemplary damages for libel.

The court has therefore ordered that she publish a retraction statement on her Instagram page and several blogs.
