“Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path”

– Psalm 119:105

My best friend was given to me as a gift. I had lost the other one when I traveled and we didn’t get so acquainted.

I needed something to hold along on Sundays to church so that condemning eyes can let me be. That was the secondary reason though (LOL). In my family, you have to own one either you read it or not.

In my journey to the place of faith I always fall short of expectations… At times but God always catch me and take me back to where I belong.

Have you ever been so discouraged you can literally feel the weight on you. So discouraged you just want to pack it all up?

Well, I have.

I have been so down the only friend I have was this big black leather cover book. Trust me it wasn’t easy to open it up and read, especially when you’ve got the weight of the world on your shoulder so I just held it so tight till I fell asleep.

I woke up and the book was right there in my arms closely held to my chest and a little smeared by sweat. “I might as well open it up,” I thought to myself. So gradually, one verse after another I meditated.

When strength to go on returned, I thought again, “hey it works like magic! I might as well read over and over again.” And that’s just what I did till it became a habit.

But it wasn’t magic, it was the life giving word of God. I trust it more than I trust the situations around me and when it says do something, you’d better start doing it already!

It’s just some very few years ago now and every time I look at my bible. I still smile and say “my best friend is a big black leather cover book with gold imprints.” (Smiles and hugs)

Thank you Oladipupo Oke for the beautiful gift. 🙂

These are my thoughts… Please share yours with us. God bless!
