Houston Floods: Jeremiah is thankful after losing everything

Many have expressed their gratitude to God in the face of the natural disaster Hurricane Harvey which is sweeping across Texas devastating families and wiping out homes, but a particular grateful man stands out.

A reporter caught up with a victim and his son, walking through the rain to get away from the storm. The interview starts out normally enough, as the anchor asks the man about what happened. He says just yesterday it wasn’t raining and then 45 minutes later, their house was amid a flood. That’s how quick Harvey took over, causing the family to head to the second floor of their apartment — then escape out the second story window into a boat.

The man identified as Jeremiah was walking with his 6-year-old son Jeremiah, Jr. when the reporter caught up with him. He talked about her they had to climb out the window saying they lost everything including their car and clothes.

Amidst his interview he suddenly switched to gratitude saying despite all that has happened he is thankful to God.

“We thank God, we thank God — this is all we have,” he said, nothing they don’t even know where they will go next. “We lost the car, all the clothes…everything is gone…but we are thankful.”

Similarly, KHOU-TV reporter Brandi Smith has contributed to the rescue of a truck driver who was stuck in the flood and water filling up his cab. She noticed the truck going under water and realized there was a man inside. That’s when she started yelling to the man and then ran to flag down a Harris County Sheriff’s Office vehicle, which was driving by and had a boat attached. The whole process was done while the reporter was live.
