– The Passion Of Christ Sequel Filming To Begin In 2023 According To Gibson
Actor, director, producer Mel Gibson will begin the filming and production on the sequel to his 2004 blockbuster The Passion of the Christ this year.
World of Reel reported that the producer is set to begin the production of the film in the next few months.
“Gibson has been hard at work on the screenplay with Braveheart screenwriter Randall Wallace. There have already been six drafts. Resurrection would focus on the twenty-four hours encompassing Jesus’ passion and the events that occurred three days between his crucifixion and resurrection,” Ruimy explained.
The Passion of the Christ received three Oscar nominations, Cinematography, Original Score and Makeup.
Speaking on the movie in 2004, Mel Gibson noted that the movie was a spiritual experience for him and and felt led by God to do the movie.
“I was looking out a window, wondering why I shouldn’t jump. Life had no meaning. It was boring. Purposeless. That’s when I turned to Him.
That’s when my relationship with Christ really started growing. I was a bad guy, a really horrible guy. My sins were the first to nail Him to the cross. I wanted to tell His story.”
The highly-anticipated sequel has been in the development stages for the last 10 years. Mel Gibson explained the delay at Greg Laurie crusade, he said;
“It’s called The Resurrection. Of course, that’s a very big subject and it needs to be looked at because we don’t want to just do a simple rendering of it you know, read what happened,” Gibson explained.
