Catholic Priest Burnt To Death As His Colleague Got Shot While Trying To Escape

The Niger State Police command has confirmed the killing of a Catholic Priest, Rev Father Isaac, who was burnt to death while they shot his colleague, Father Collins, in the shoulder while trying to escape.

The Christian Association of Nigeria has condemned the murder and called for investigations.

The Police command confirmed the development in a statement by Wasiu Abiodun in Minna.

He stated, “unfortunately, the bandits reportedly attempted to gain entrance into the residence, but it seemed difficult; they set the house ablaze, while the said Rev. Father was burnt dead.

“A colleague of the Rev. Father identified as Father Collins was equally shot on the shoulder while trying to escape from the scene.

The lifeless body of Father Isaac was recovered while Father Collins was rushed to the hospital for treatment.”

Reacting to the sad news, the governor of Niger state said;

This is a sad moment. For a priest to be killed in such a manner means that we are not all safe. These terrorists have lost it, and drastic action is needed to end this ongoing carnage.”
