Jon Jones, American mixed martial artist revealed he listened to Gospel legend Marvin Sapp song before big championship win. He is a three-time and current Light Heavyweight Champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
The 30-year-old current Light Heavyweight Champion claimed he listened to Marvin Sapp’s song ‘Close’ before his win at UFC 214 and said he decided to give it a listen after his father sent it to him.
“My dad sent me this song, love it,” Jones told his Twitter followers, while one of his followers thanked the boxer for sharing the song and said “Wow I can send this to someone I know that need this.” Jones replied, “I was hoping something like that would happen.”
Jones is the middle son of Pastor Arthur Jones of Mount Sinai Church of God in Christ, in Binghampton, New York. In a 2012 Fox report, Pastor Jones spoke about a previous hope that his son would follow in his footsteps to preach. Jones has been vocal about his Christian faith while rising to fame as a fighter throughout the years, although he has not completely stayed away from trouble.
