“I’m Glad I Gave My Life” – Weird MC Appreciates & Eulogizes God

Weird MCLast weekend, Nigerian singer/rapper Weird MC celebrated her birthday and while the well wishes pour in in its numbers, it was her words of gratitude that caught SelahAfrik’s attention.

In the birthday post on her Instagram, Weird MC said that she has given her life to God and that she is ‘reborn’. She wrote;

“Dear heavenly Father you have added more to my days this year so far has been a huge shocker you have dazed and amazed me in ways that defy explanation. I can only say Thank You. I will continue to worship you praise you, revere you, indeed your ways are not ours. You have flipped the script in a manner which defies my imagination. I’m so grateful. I’m glad I gave my life. I’m glad I’m #reborn. Your mercies endureth forever. I Thank you for Preserving Me. I thank you for the gift of life. I Thank you for breathe. You are a convenant keeping God. Just when I felt like giving up totally you SHOWED UP. I’m speechless. I’m overwhelmed. I’m happy. I shall continue to bear witness to your GREATNESS.. OBA WI BE SE BE.. OBA ARA.. OBA A WI LE SE…”

Weird MC (real name Adesola Adesimbo Idowu) is one of the pioneers of Nigerian Hip Hop. Her first major success as an artiste was the release of the 1996 song “Allen Avenue”. After few years in diaspora, she returned with the single “Ijoya” produced by Don Jazzy and JJC earning her a Channel O Music Video Award for Best Special Effect. Apart from being a solo artiste, Idowu has collaborated with other artistes including Femi Kuti and close friend Kween, and in 2010, she was the last woman remaining in the celebrity version of reality show Gulder Ultimate Search.
