desire God's word

♠♠♠ When To Stop Praying & Start Doing ♠♠♠

I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary [food] – Job 23:12

bibleThere are some things we will have to pray for,  there are some things we will have to do.

No one who is hungry and have foodstuff will pray to God to come help him cook because he is hungry,  he will either get the help of a loved one,  a maid or get into the kitchen and cook.  Common sense will let him know he shouldn’t pray about favour for someone to come help him cook but get into the business of preparing something one way or the other.

So also,  we need our spiritual common sense when it comes to some of our spiritual needs.  I have seen people pray severally that God should help them desire his Word. You can pray this and I assure you that God will deal with you with that measure of faith but if you want to experience real transformation and get into a deeper desire which will birth deeper revelation of God’s Word,  you need to start doing! ‘Start doing’ because the Word is a finished work.

Bible says as we behold the face of Jesus,  we are being transformed from one level of glory to the next level (2Cor 3:18). This is not something you pray about,  it is something you do.  You get into the Word and begin to see Jesus’ reflection in the Word,  the Word will begins to transform you and you will begin to value it more as you see what it is doing in your life.

Job said your ‘Word I desire more than my necessary food’ (Job 23:12). This shows that he wasn’t praying for the word,  he was observing it like it was breakfast,  lunch or dinner.  No one goes to pray ‘Lord please make me hungry this afternoon so that I can eat”, if you do not eat,  it’s only a matter of time before hunger strikes. In the same way,  if you do not devour the Word, it is only a matter of time before spiritual hunger strikes.

So stop praying to desire the Word, start getting into the Word. Live in the spirit and experience real hunger for the word. Live in the spirit and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh (Gal 5:16)
