The Problem of Nigeria and those who dwell in it is simply “order”! Yet we want change. We hate order of any form and always envision some illusions called change
It shows in little things like commitment, truthfulness and simple customer service. If we can’t fix a little pot hole, how do we fix a big nationwide mess?
It’s been like this before I was born and is still the same. Same old stories! Same folks governing and passing the baton to each other as though it’s a cake which the knives need be passed from one scammer to the other!
Whatever happened to the sharp mouthed swerve young folks who say they have been to Harvard and all the works! Where are the true Messiahs!? Could they be in a Hotel room somewhere with harlots wasting away their resources on filth!? Oh! Maybe they are in Ibiza having fun! Oops! Maybe they are busy collecting kick backs and contracts from these old bosses so they can keep ruling whilst they buy themselves houses in Banana Republic sorry, Banana Island and just look the other way.
VOX POP
However, as I get older I realize, it is possible for me to live there and live there in peace and joy. The only way to effect change is to start little by little. Even if one or two people make a difference each day, hopefully it will spread and grow. If the leaders can’t get it right then maybe it needs to start with the people and they show the leader (sadly). If individuals could just say “you know what, just because they choose not to do it right doesn’t mean I will do the same. I’m still going to live my life how the bible says I should. I will still use the book of proverbs as my guide if I can’t figure out how to act each day or when faced with crazy situations. I’m going to hope and pray my actions will spread and affect others. One by one, change can be possible.
Just like cancer agents- it develops in the body way before any test can detect it. By the time a test shows cancer or symptoms appear, it has been in the body for quite some time. But it can spread rapidly before one knows it. So for Nigeria we need CHANGE agents. Individuals who will live according to what they envision for the country (and according to the book of proverbs would help wink emoticon. Be able to take a few slaps and kicks maybe a set back or two. Even though they may feel they aren’t making a difference and their impact is not noticeable, eventually it will be and eventually it will surface and spread. But if we live with the notion that there is ‘no point’ then it will very happen. We also need individuals to have a ‘pay if forward’ mindset.
If nothing at all, those who chose to be change agents – their children will learn from them and grow to have that mindset. Then we can hope that change starts with our children – a new generation of thinkers and doers and just like they say in the American workforce, “hope for the ‘babyboomers’ to retire and leave the workforce”.
