Selah's Journal: Dear Christian! Who Made You A Judge?!

Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God that worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure – Philippians 2:12

It’s been a long time a wrote in my journal and I am certain I have written something about this before even if it’s slightly different from the perception I am going to approach from today but once again it has become a burden in my heart and I am not going to get tired of talking about this until God drives the message down into the heart of atleast one brother or sister and there is a change of attitude.

Christians are too busy looking at the other person (who they feel is) going wrong that they fail to see that while they are focus on the person’s problem, sin and the likes, they are actually losing their way with God. The bible admonishes us to work out our own salvation… the emphases is on “our own,” we could have been told to work out the next person’s salvation if we are so perfect but the truth is, it is not our works that make us perfect, if it is, then, no one would have been able to please God. We are saved by grace through our faith in Jesus. Paul writes “I have access by faith into the grace in which I stand (Romans 5:2). Therefore it is not of works but by the grace of God for our righteousness is nothing but a filthy rag (Romans 11:6, Isaiah 64:6).

So why do Christians act like they are all perfect on Social media, in the church, in this budding Gospel music industry… everywhere?!!

Christians especially those celebrated come on social media and make threats about the will of God, injects fear into the heart of new converts and lead sinners away from God. They make it look like God’s business is to sit down with a big record book looking for who will go against His will so as to render punishment to such a person when even the bible tells us it is not a thing of joy for God to see the sinner perish (Ezekiel 18:23). Yes our sin lead us away from God and the wages is death. Yes, we sometimes have to show tough love but I feel so sorry for Christians who make it their business to point out wrong and rebuke with the motive of destroying the neighbor or sounding so righteous because while you were busy doing all that, you have soiled your hands and you are not better off than the person you are putting down!

Dont-judge-people

Most times God is working on a person, when He is doing this, we see the person from his imperfections and we mean mug and spite the person in question but God is seeing this person from the perfection of Jesus Christ so who are you to judge anybody? Really who do you think you are?! 😐 The bible says what are mere mortals that You take thought of them… yet you make them only inferior to Yourself and crowned them with glory and honour (Psalm 8:4-5 GNT), so you see, God chose to honour you, not because you are so deserving, He just chose to; so mind how you get puffed up and arrogant about your salvation.

I leave you with thes verses:

Matthew 7:1-6:

Do not judge, so that you may not be judged.  For with the judgment you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get.  Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye?  Or how can you say to your neighbor,  ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while the log is in your own eye?  You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor’s eye.

James 4:11

Brothers and sisters, stop slandering each other. Those who slander and judge other believers slander and judge God’s teachings. If you judge God’s teachings, you are no longer following them. Instead, you are judging them.
