Beautiful songstress Glowreeyah Braimah and a 45-man orchestra did a rendition of the “Via Dolorosa” on Sunday the 20th of April (Easter Sunday) at House on the Rock Church in Lagos.

One of the phrase used to qualify her rendition was “absolutely stunning.” Glowreeyah, earlier on Sunday morning had posted a picture of what seems to be the rehearsal, on her micro-blogging site account – Twitter, with the caption:

“Happy Resurrection everyone!Whooping excited to be singing ‘Via Dolorosa’ alongside a 45man-orchestra this morning!”

The “Via Dolorosa” which is in Latin is translated as “Way of Grief”, “Way of Sorrows”, “Way of Suffering” or simply “Painful Way” is a composition born out of Jesus’ pathway to the cross.

It is a street, in two parts, within the Old City of Jerusalem, held to be the path that Jesus walked, carrying his cross, on the way to his crucifixion. It is a distance of about 600 metres (2,000 feet) and it is celebrated place of Christian pilgrimage. The current route has been established since the 18th century, replacing various earlier versions.

There’s been conflicting conclusions on the composer of the song but the most plausible source – EMI Christian Music Publishing – says it was composed by Niles Borop and Billy Sprague. The most popular performance of the piece was by Sandi Patty.

Meanwhile, Glowreeyah’s new single “You Are God Alone” is still top on many playlists and has made it on to the airwaves. Hoping the songstress drop a video to the awesome single pretty soon!
