“Then the devil left Him; and behold, angels came and began to minister to Him. “
– Matthew 4:11
Anyways, today I will like to talk about the battle that goes on in our mind. I am assuming that the devil did not appear to Jesus physically in Matthew chapter 4 (oh well… not saying that couldn’t have been the case either). The battle happened in the spirit.
Jesus just finished fasting forty days and night, the bible made us understand that He was hungry. One would have thought, haven fasted for forty days, it was time that signs and wonders begin to manifest with immediate effect but no, it was the devil that showed up. You can relate with this right? After you have prayed and it’s like you’ve got the conviction in your heart, then devil begins to paint unreal pictures.
The bible says resist the devil and he shall flee, this was exactly what Jesus did and from the chapter we can also deduce that Jesus was vast in the scripture. He had equipped Himself because the devil came quoting the scriptures wrongly to Him but Jesus was able to resist him with the right ones. At the end of the day, the devil had to leave and angels came to minister to Him… Wow!
Angels came to minister to Him, that means those angels were there all along but God did not let them tamper with Jesus’ choices. God wants you to choose, trust, hope, obey Him rightly so that He can release His angels to minister to you. I am very certain they must have brought Jesus food too, one way or the other because the Bible said they came to “minister” – that’s all encompassing! Are you still following?
Do you sometimes during the day, in the midst of your fear, doubt, distrust hear a very still voice assuring you of better things to come while the voice prompting you to sin, worry and fear is the loudest? Yes, that’s the angels bearing to you God’s voice, resist the devil and they will minister to you too… Hallelujah!!!
